Linden Waterworks
Robustly constructed for long-term water supply
Linden Waterworks opts for the MÜPRO range
From April to July 2018, Germany experienced its hottest period since regular weather records began, a fact that remains etched in many people’s memories.
In order to secure the local water supply, both now and in the future, even during hot summers and droughts, the Norderdithmarschen Water Authority made the decision to invest millions of euros in the construction of the new Linden waterworks. This will benefit around 42,000 customers in 61 municipalities that are supplied by the waterworks.
Construction work began in 2020. For the pipework, the project relies on the long-standing experience and expertise of Weber Energie und Umwelt Service GmbH from Berlin. To ensure the pipes are securely and durably fixed, Weber has used high-quality, heavy-duty structures from MÜPRO. Together, long-term solutions for the project were identified and successfully implemented.
Completed: 2025
Building type: Waterworks
Requirements: Heavy-duty fastening, corrosion protection
Country: Germany
Heavy-duty structures safely installed
The Linden waterworks is equipped with innovative groundwater treatment systems. The new pipe cross-sections were adapted to the planned and required flow rate. To optimally accommodate the high loads and increased load density, heavy-duty structures from MÜPRO’s MPT range are being used. The coordinated MPT fastening system is suitable for the secure installation of heavy pipes in industrial and plant engineering.
In accordance with specifications from Weber Energie und Umwelt Service GmbH, MÜPRO calculated the structural requirements and designed the brackets. A distinctive feature of the project is the large pipe diameters of DN 400 and DN 500 in some sections, the weight of which had to be taken into account during the planning phase. In total, over seven tonnes of material were installed. This ensures the safe and efficient fixing of the pipes and conduits within the waterworks.
Carefully selected fastening technology
Hot-dip galvanised MPT-Support profiles Q100 and Q50, each 6,000 millimetres long, were used, along with matching MPT-Mounting angles to connect the profiles. The use of MPT-Saddle supports enables the rapid assembly of cross-beams from the MPT profiles. Complemented by functional accessories, this results in time and cost savings as well as a clean appearance thanks to the use of MPT-Protection caps.
The hot-dip galvanised MPT-Console Q100 was installed in four lengths: 500, 750, 1,000 and 2,000 millimetres. The base plate allows the brackets to be connected directly. MPT-Hammer-head bolts in various designs, washers, threaded rods and various hexagonal nuts from the MÜPRO range completed the construction.
The MÜPRO Heavy-duty anchors BZ also ensure a secure and long-lasting fix. Furthermore, these can be used flexibly thanks to the two anchoring depths. The advantages lie in the firm anchoring provided by the slotted expansion sleeve with teeth and the force-controlled expansion achieved through the tightening torque.
Corrosion protection through hot-dip galvanised construction
When installing the structure at the water treatment plant, there were several specific considerations to keep in mind, particularly regarding corrosion. This is because moisture and condensation can quickly attack materials and cause permanent damage. The hot-dip galvanised construction of the fasteners from the MPT range allows for trouble-free use both indoors and outdoors. Unlike stainless steel, corrosion protection remains effective even after decades. This actively prevents pitting or stress corrosion cracking and corrosion-related fractures. The zinc coatings are also highly resistant to mechanical stress. This ensures the long-term usability of the structure, particularly when used in water supply systems.
Conclusion
The MÜPRO fastening systems used at the Linden Water Treatment Plant enable the construction of heavy-duty structures while ensuring safety, ease of installation, and corrosion protection.
