New building for extensive renovation at Bielefeld University

With a total construction budget of 800 million euros, this major renovation project for the 40-year-old main building at Bielefeld University encompasses a comprehensive package of measures. A replacement building was erected to ensure that the university could continue to operate despite the far-reaching renovation work. The departments affected by the renovation have moved into this building, where they continue their teaching.
 
High-grade MÜPRO support system technology was used for constructing a utility tunnel in the replacement building:
  • Pipeline expansion point with 1 degree of flexibility for expansion compensators for plant engineering/heavy-duty pipe support systems in a hot-dip galvanised design
  • Pipe slides type TP-1 with lateral guide and lift lock with a MPT guide. The supporting structure was built using MPT-Q100 support sections. The MÜPRO application engineers also calculated the expected forces and supplied the necessary structural analyses.
  • Fixed anchor point in hot-dip galvanised design. STATO bracket sets installed in series means that the installation can withstand loads of up to 16.5 kN per set.
  • The pipeline expansion point with 2 degrees of flexibility is used to absorb changes in length in the corner section of L expanders. The structure consists of a green Junior DÄMMGULAST bossed clamp for reducing noise levels to 18 dB(A) and a 1.75 kN slide guide in a flat design fitted in a cross stay. A MPC wall hanger bracket was used to fasten the structure to the wall.
